June 29, 2009 Mommy Discovers Xocai: The Healthy Chocolate

Yes, I did just use the words healthy and chocolate together. Go back and read that title again a few times and get used to the concept. It's a wonderful thought and an even better reality. Xocai (show-sigh) is healthy chocolate. It's high in antioxidants, diabetic friendly, vegan friendly and chocolate of the best tasting kind. And better yet, you get to eat it three times a day. I've already lost 7 lbs. in only two weeks. While that might not sound like a lot to some of you, it is to me. As some of you may know, I had a baby back in March. I lost 20 lbs. in the first two weeks post-partum and hadn't lost anything since. I've been stuck at a set point with 20 lbs. till I reach pre-pregnancy weight and 40 lbs. till I'm at my recommended weight. Anyway, in the last two weeks since starting to eat Xocai three times a day, I've lost 7 lbs. and I think I could have lost more, but I've had pizza for dinner three nights, eaten doughnuts for breakfast twice (they were just there) and gone to my best friends wedding. Let's be honest, I'm showing no signs of starting a diet and exercise routine. I am, however, not hungry all the time. You know those temptations to go raid the pantry in the evening? I haven't had them since I started eating Xocai. My husband also swears that my moods have leveled out for the first time since having the baby and I definitely have more energy. Coincidence? You eat it for a few days and then decide for yourself.

So why am I talking about chocolate on a blog for making money online? Well, Xocai does provide a money making opportunity, albeit one that is mostly not online. The founders, having dealt with marketing products in stores before, decided to found MXI Corp (the company that sells Xocai) as a multi-level marketing company. They are, however, the most generous MLM I've ever seen. For starters, all the bonuses they pay out to distributors add up to 50% of the profits. Second, you don't have to be in the top tiers of the company to make decent checks. They set up bonuses for meeting small goals, like signing up people or helping those under you sign up two people in their first four weeks. The whole program is set up so that you will not only remain motivated to help yourself succeed, but motivated to help others succeed as well.

I'm sure you're still asking, "But why is she talking about this on the blog about making money online?" Well, I'm getting away with it because it's my blog...and because distributors are given a website that explains the program when they sign up. The website also has an online store where you can sell Xocai products and a place to sign up new people under you. You can check out my site here. I would suggest you go just to view the video about the compensation plan. It really is amazing. You just click on the "Tour" tab on the menu. (It doesn't show up on the list when you just scroll over it, so make sure you click.)

Honestly, Xocai is a great product. Who doesn't want to eat chocolate? Do you really have to convince people? I think the hardest thing to convince people is that chocolate is good for them. Well, maybe that stuff in the stores isn't good for you because it has all those fillers and preservatives, but it's been all over the news for the last few years that chocolate would be good for you if you took all the junk out. Ta-dah! Xocai is born. If you need some convincing yourself about how good for you chocolate is, try MyDrChocolate.com. Read the testimonials, too! For the rest of you who always "knew" deep down that you needed chocolate in your diet to survive, this is definitely the business for you.

June 24, 2009 Mommy Updates Her Website

I apologize that I've totally neglected the blog lately. It's been over a week...I know. I do have a legitimate reason, though. I have finally updated the look of the website. I was receiving a lot of complaints from people who were used to reading the blog on the website that I wasn't making new entries. What happened was I stopped copying them to the website. Since the blog was on the home page, it looked like I wasn't writing anything new. A new home page was obviously needed. So, after a lot of time messing around with html, the site has a new look. Check it out and tell me what you think.

June 15, 2009 Changes in Helium Policies

Last Friday I received an email from Helium outlining some changes in policies. While there is great argument in the forum over these changes and what they will mean for both our ability to earn and the quality of writing on Helium, it appears the decision is already final. If it doesn't work out the way Helium thinks it will, they can always change it again.

The first change is about rating other people's articles. Helium will no longer require members to rate in order to earn upfront payments for their writing. However, if you wish to earn the residual income from your articles, the old rules apply. You still must have one rating star to earn revenue shares for the day.

The second change has to do with who will receive upfront payments. In an attempt to get people to fill the thousands of empty titles on the site (as well as decrease how much money they are paying out on any one article), Helium will now only pay upfront payments to the first five people who write to a title. This means that if you are person number six to submit your article, even if it is only by a fraction of a second, you will not get paid an upfront payment. You can still earn revenue shares from that article, but the $0.50 to $2.50 that you usually earn based on your writing stars will not be earned.

If you have any questions about the changes, I suggest you go to Helium and read through the forum for yourself. For all the arguing, we really don't know what these changes will do to the site, but they almost have to have an impact.

There are so many other people like us that are looking to make money and there are just as many people who are making money and willing to share their knowledge. These forums are great resources. Even if you just read a lot of posts and never participate, you will probably learn a lot of information that will be useful in your efforts.

June 10, 2009 Mommy Joins a Forum

Some of you will laugh when you read this post, but it never occurred to me that there were forums out there dedicated to people trying to make money online. I know. It's funny. There are plenty of websites and blogs, but I didn't think about forums. Well, my work with My Online Income System has lead me to joining forums. I actually just submitted my first post to Work at Home Forum. There is so much information there. I've been reading for hours tonight. And, what I found even more impressive, there is actually a section for WAHM (work at home moms) and a section on raising kids. Even if I had thought of forums, I wouldn't have expected to find individual boards on those topics. So anyway, I will keep it short. If you are looking for more information, go check it out. You don't have to be a member to read through the information. If you want to post a question, you'll need to sign up. Happy learning!

June 4, 2009 Mommy Discovers Free Gas Money Online

I can't believe that I haven't written about this site before, but since I just received my first payout today, I think it's about time. Free Gas Money Online, also referred to as FGMO, is mainly a paid to signup site. While there are some offers you can do that require a credit card, the majority of the offers are completely free. Most of the free offers are the fake surveys where they have you answer one question and claim you will get some high value prize or gift card. While participation is required to get the prize, it's NOT required to get paid by FGMO. All you have to do is go through all the advertisements and click on a few of the offers at the end. I have two pieces of advice when doing signups. First, get another email that you only use for signups. A Yahoo! account will be fine. You just don't want all the junk mail to be sent to the same email that you get real emails sent. Second, check out the "Get Directions" section of the site. It has a lot of tips for how to get more offers to go through. You'll save yourself a lot of time by reading this page first. You'll make more money too!

You are only allowed to complete an offer once, no matter what site you do it on. So the question is why do I like FGMO when there are so many other signup sites out there. The answer is the contests. Bex (the admin) is always running contests and promotions for completing offers. For example, earlier this week, she gave a bonus $0.25 for every offer completed. The contests change every month and sometimes new ones appear on a whim, but there is always some kind of extra reward on top of the regular completion value. And, as I said at the beginning, the site is paying. It pays out once a month on a 35 day delay, meaning if you request in April you get paid the first week of June, but I'm totally willing to wait if I can get $38 in a single month from a site. Minimum payout is $15. I'm loving this site right now.

June 2, 2009 Mommy Discovers Squidoo

So, I've found an interesting alternative to blogging for those who want to write (or rant as the case may be), but don't have enough to say about one topic to sustain a blog or create a whole website around. It's called Squidoo. I found it while going through the My Online Income System materials because some affiliate marketers use it to promote products, but that's just a small niche on Squidoo.

Basically, the site provides an easy way to make individual webpages (called lenses) about whatever you want to write about. Say you want to point out a problem with your local school system. If it's just one or two issues, you might have trouble writing a blog about it. You probably could manage a page, though. When the problem gets fixed, just update your Squidoo page to let people know the current situation. Or back on the idea of promoting items for sale, if you want to tell people about what you're selling on eBay, you can write about it on Squidoo and update your page whenever you put new things up for sale. It would make a pretty silly blog, but it's fine on Squidoo. You're just trying to get more traffic to your items.

I have to admit, a blog takes frequent maintenance to get and keep an audience. It can be a lot of work when you're just starting out. A Squidoo page only needs your attention when something actually changes or if you feel the desire to revise (or add pictures). If you want to write about twenty different topics, just make twenty different pages. They don't have to be related at all, which is a big plus over blogs and websites. But, just like a website or blog, Squidoo lets you make money for your efforts. Squidoo does revenue sharing. Half of what the site brings in gets redistrubuted back to its users. The rest of the money goes to maintain the site and to charities. Of course, if you're not interested in earning anything off of your pages, you can give your shares to charity too. But, if you're looking for a way to make money by writing and some of the other sites I've suggested (like Helium or eHow) are a little too rigid for you, this might just fit the bill.
